DESCRIPTION
Originally developed in Japan for making kimonos, it is a non-crepe silk, meaning the yarns are not highly twisted. It is a classic "one-over, one-under" weave. It is characterized by its extreme lightness and smooth, almost slippery surface. It has a soft, glossy sheen (more natural than the high-shine of satin) and is semi-transparent to opaque depending on its weight. Exceptionally soft and non-irritating, which is why it is the world's most popular lining for luxury garments.
