Mikado is a luxurious type of silk blend characterized by its heavy weight, high luster, and stiff, structural drape. It is produced using a specific grain weaving technique that gives it more substance and "body" than standard satins.
It is a thick, rigid fabric. Unlike fluid silks (like Charmeuse), Mikado holds its shape, making it ideal for architectural silhouettes and voluminous designs.
